Overview

Ahch-To is a remote ocean world deep in the Unknown Regions, missing from almost every star chart[1]. Almost all of its surface is water, with a chain of rocky green islands rising out of the sea[1]. The climate is temperate and humid, and storms and surf are frequent[3].

The main island, often called Temple Island, carries ancient stone steps, beehive huts, the first Jedi Temple and the old Jedi library[1]. High cliffs and caverns line its coast, and the sea below is home to creatures such as the thala-sirens[1].

Two native peoples share the islands: the bird-like Lanai, who tend the old structures as Caretakers, and the small seabirds known as porgs[1]. The galaxy map places the planet in grid square F-13[3].

Who lives here

Role in the galaxy

Ahch-To matters as the place where the Jedi religion began. The first Jedi Temple stands on the main island, with a meditation ledge high above the sea and mosaics of the earliest Jedi, and the Lanai tend the old structures and look after those who come in search of answers[1].

Its remoteness is part of its power. Because the planet is left off the charts, anyone who goes there can vanish from the rest of the galaxy — which is exactly what the islands have been used for[1].
