Overview

Kamino is a remote ocean planet far beyond the Outer Rim, covered by a global sea and lashed by constant storms. Lightning splits the dark cloud bands, and aiwha, large winged sea creatures, wheel through the stormy skies. The settlements are white cities built on stilts above the waves, and the capital is Tipoca City[1][2].

The people who built those cities are the Kaminoans, tall, long-necked cloners who sold clones as their main export. Their prime minister governs from Tipoca City, and the clone troopers of the Republic's Grand Army are grown in Kaminoan facilities rather than born[2][3].

That trade ties Kamino to the whole Clone Wars story. The planet appears in Attack of the Clones, The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch, and in the game Star Wars Battlefront II[1].

Role in the galaxy

Kamino matters because of what it makes. A remote ocean world far beyond the Outer Rim, it is where the Kaminoans grew the Republic's clone army, and for a long time the planet stayed a closely kept secret. The soldiers of the Clone Wars all trace their origins back to its laboratories[1][2].

Kamino also shapes individual stories. Boba Fett spends his childhood here, Omega grows up in Tipoca City before joining the Bad Batch, and the Kaminoan leaders Lama Su and Nala Se head the planet's government and its cloning science[2][4][5].
