Overview
Corellia is an ancient world in the Core of the galaxy, known above all for its huge shipyards. Its explorers and shipbuilders helped spread galactic civilization thousands of years ago, and Corellians are still famed for their wanderlust and their skill as pilots[1].
By the Imperial era the planet has faded into a smoggy industrial world. Shipyards crowd the coast, a brown-grey haze hangs over the cities, and the Empire puts the factories to work building TIE fighters and Star Destroyers[1].
Life is hard for the poor, and many dream of leaving for a better life[1]. Below the streets of Coronet, the White Worms gang runs the black market from the sewers and an abandoned water-processing plant, with street children as its thieves[2]. Han Solo, Qi'ra and Wedge Antilles all grew up here[1][3][4].
Who lives here
Corellians
Humans famous for wanderlust, piloting and ship-building. Many of the poor dream of leaving the planet for a better life elsewhere in the galaxy[1].
Corellian hounds
Non-sentient hounds native to Corellia, kept as pets and guard animals. They are part of the Coronet setting of Solo: A Star Wars Story[9].
Grindalids
Light-shy, worm-like beings who rule the White Worms gang from the sewers beneath Coronet. They are not natives, though: the species comes from Persis IX[10].
Scrumrats
Street children and young thieves who work for the White Worms in Coronet, stealing for the gang that rules the sewers below[2].
Role in the galaxy
Corellia matters first as a workshop. The Empire uses its factories to turn out TIE fighters and Star Destroyers, so the planet feeds the Imperial war machine[1]. Its yards also come up in stories about the aftermath of the Clone Wars, as in The Bad Batch, where Clone Force 99 slips into a droid decommissioning facility in Coronet[12].
It also matters as a place that people leave. Han Solo's start as a petty thief, Qi'ra's years with the White Worms and Wedge Antilles's youth as a pilot and mechanic all begin here[1][3][4]. The planet then returns in Ahsoka, where Sabine Wren traces an assassin droid to Morgan Elsbeth's factories[8].
